Location: Driving To the Wolf Laurel Area
The completed 4 lane Interstate I-26 connecting Asheville ,NC with east Tennessee provides easy access to the Wolf Laurel area from around the country. This new interstate connects highway I-26 with I-81 south of Kingsport, TN. and is a major north/south route for traffic.From the South - I-85 North to Greenville, Hwy. 25 North to I-26 West. Follow to I-240 East at Asheville and take Exit 4A after the Smoky Park bridge to 19/23 N ( I-26 W) to Wolf Laurel at Exit #3.
From the West - I-40 East to Asheville. Take I-240 East (I-26 W) to Exit 4A. Follow 19/23 N (I-26 W) to Wolf Laurel at Exit 3.
From the North - 19/23 S (I-26 East) to Wolf Laurel at Exit 3.
From the East - I-40 West to I-240 West, to Exit 4A – 19/23 N ( I-26 W) to Wolf Laurel at Exit 3.

Raleigh, 4.5 hoursAirports: The Wolf Laurel Resort area is almost equal distance (around 45 minutes) from both the AshevilleRegional Airport and Tri-Cities Airport located between Johnson City, Kingsport and Bristol, TN. Also check for flights into the Greenville, SC Airport as airfares are often less expensive there and at Tri-Cities than in Asheville.
Elevation Range: Here in the high mountains of western NC, elevation determines your climate allowing for cool summertime temperatures here at Wolf Laurel in the summer and winter sports in the winter. Our elevation ranges from around 3,200 feet at our lowest elevation near the Horse stables to 3,800 at our gate and village where the tennis courts, heated swimming pool and village activities take place. The elevations go up to over 5,000 feet inside the resort with Big Bald on the Appalachian Trail topping out at over 5,500 feet in elevation and it is actually higher than either Beech or Sugar Mountain.
Restaurants in the Resort Area:
Wolf Laurel Country Club - Private for members and guests with excellent food, lounge, outdoor seating and long-range views and occasional entertainment but only open from May 1 until November 1.
The Lodge Steak & Ribs at Wolf Ridge - At Wolf Ridge Resort, maybe a two mile drive good steaks and ribs, clogging and live entertainment, great views but no alcohol.
Tina's General Store - Just outside the gate offering pizzas, sandwiches and a convenience store.
Little Creek Cafe - Great home cooking since around 1950
Wolf Creek Service Station & Restaurant - The restaurant is opening soon.Summer Activities: Relaxation, enjoying the views and the club, hiking, swimming, camping, tennis, golf and the other usual mountain activities plus there are tons of summer cultural and shopping activities available in nearby Asheville. .
Winter Activities - We are one of the most Southern resorts with a full winter sports program including sand four-season attractions.
The Wolf Laurel Country Club - This is currently a private equity club with social memberships starting around $9,000 and golf at $18,000. Of course there are additional fees and minimums but the food is great, the views are outstanding and the bar is well, the only bar currently in or around the resort.
Schools: The Madison County schools are highly rated according to them and they have 2,500 students enrolled in four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. There are also great private schools in Asheville including Asheville Catholic, Emanuel Lutheran School, Asheville Christian, Carolina Day and The Asheville School. Personally, my daughters have all attended private school as I have far more confidence in parent involvement and control at private institutions.
Churches: There is a wide variety of churches available in the area and most denominations if not represented here in Madison County have congregations in the Asheville area.

This program provides you, your family and guests access to all of the physical amenities in the village and other locations throughout the resort, as well as the dynamic calendar of events scheduled by the staff in the village activities office.
Village Amenities Include:
Three Tennis Courts
Private heated Swimming Pool

Sand Volleyball Court
Guided adventures by on-site activities director, including fly fishing, hiking, white water rafting, mountain biking, rock climbing and more!
Trout Pond and Stone Amphitheater with Antique Water Wheel
Covered Overlook/Fishing Pier - Located on the edge of the Trout Pond providing a shaded spot with a 4 ft. porch swing.
Tree Fort and Outdoor Skills Area
Business Center with internet access located in the Wolf Laurel Welcome Center
The Library and Community Center
Outdoor Pavilion - seating for 150+, with outdoor kitchen, fireplace and restroom facilities.
Angelico Ridge Pavilion – a place for intimate gatherings (up to 20) with a fireplace, cooking facilities, restrooms and primitive campsite.
Primitive campsite - a designated spot for tent camping including support items for camping.
Restored Springhouse / Grill area
Over 1 mile of walking trails within The Village.
Nature trails with access to the Pisgah National Forest located in Deer Run Estates.
Community Garden area with boulder seating on the perimeter.
4th of July fireworks and live entertainment for annual Hoe Down.
This membership is offered on a calendar year basis and the 2006 fees are as follows:
*Membership Initiation Fee (first year only): $750 plus:
*Annual Dues: Total Amount Due
*Private Residence $300 $1050
*Rental/income Property $500 $1250Owners of undeveloped property may also join the Village Amenities Program by paying the one-time $750 membership initiation fee. Annual dues will be applied after a residence has been constructed and will be billed at the rate for that calendar year )either private residence or rental property rate).
Please note that if you own more than one property, the fees above apply to each individual property and a membership application should be completed on each property where amenities usage would apply. This is especially important for rental or income properties, since visitors to Wolf Laurel want to have access to the village amenities programs. Joining the Village Amenities Program is voluntary, but village amenities and activities are available to resident members and their guests only.
Other Resorts in the Area - Wolf Laurel Resort is the largest resort in the area and we have the highest elevations but there are a wide range of resort alternatives in the area to meet your lifestyle needs and personal circumstances. Note, I live inside Wolf Laurel Resort but both the ski resort, Scenic Wolf Ridge Resort and Breakaway Village are all within walking distance of my home so we have the best of all worlds.
